Auden came home from preschool today with a fever, curled up in the recliner, covered up, and crashed out. His teacher said that half the class was out sick today, so I'm bracing myself for catching whatever it is. The silver lining is that I'm already on a running-break after twisting my ankle at the end of Tuesday night's run (supposed to be 8mi, but only made it 7). My first running injury ever. By the way, a twisted ankle as a silver lining- that's maturity, right?
I haven't posted in awhile because we haven't really done anything interesting. Most notable: Half-off sale on Debbie Bliss (and Patagonia cotton) yarn at Wildflower this weekend. I may have added to my stash...
And my modest fabric stash grew a little last week too...
It had to be done. I have been drooling over the Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabric line at PurlSoho.com since December. When they offered it up in fat quarters, resistance was futile. It's so soft, I actually break it out to pet it every once in awhile. How amazing will that quilt be?
I think I've finally found a solution to the book problem. Kerouac. I've yet to read anything of his, and I don't know what to expect. I was gonna make a trip to Hastings today, but the whole sick child thing put a cramp in that. We don't have enough groceries to make it through an extended illness, but we do have enough yarn and fabric to carry us through (and that's what is truly important after all). Love, Sara

Hi Sara! I know this is a late comment, but it was finals week last week and spring break for the kids so...I am shocked Sara, that you have never read any Kerouac. To think I lived so close to you and never knew. We could have remedied this sooner. I feel now like I was a bad friend in Grand Forks. I apologize. you'll have to let me know what you think of his writings...

If there's one cliche I wholeheartedly embrace, it has to be: It's better late than never. The boys & I went to Hastings today (while Auden's fever was down- totally spreading whatever he has to the general population...) and they didn't have a single Kerouac book. I was hoping for Big Sur, but I would have taken anything. Looks like I'll have to make a trip to Topeka once Auden's over This virus. So what should I read first? I should've known you'd have the scoop :) -Sara
